Responsibilities & Services

The position of Brazos County Auditor is appointed by the State District Judges for a term of two years. The county auditor is the Chief Financial Officer of Brazos County, with numerous responsibilities mandated in the Texas State Statutes, which include:

  • Audits and processes accounting transactions for grants, payroll, and invoices
  • Examines the accounts of all county and district offices and reports the findings to the Commissioners Court
  • Keeping the general accounting records, and prepares financial reports
  • Prepares annual estimates of budget revenues
  • Prescribes systems for the receipt and disbursement of funds
  • Verifies compliance with purchasing laws
