Arrington Road to Close for Construction

Brazos County, TX – Beginning Monday, April 15, 2019, Arrington Road in Brazos County Precinct 1 will be closed to through traffic for approximately five months.  The portion of Arrington Road between Old Arrington Road and Mesa Verde will only be open to home owners, property owners and construction projects along that area.  Mail delivery, trash service and emergency services will also have access at all times.  All other traffic will be rerouted.

The project will consist of reconstructing the roadway by realigning it to match the new right of way width, and installing a new pavement cross-section.  The new roadway will be widened to a 28 foot paved width.  The roadwork also includes installing new culverts with headwalls, and adjustment of domestic water lines.

Brazos County Engineer Prarthana Banerji says the timing of this project is important.  “The existing pavement is showing dramatic signs of distress and deterioration, and does not have an adequate width or strength for the level of traffic it is supporting.  The work is progressing now to support current growth in the area.”  She adds, “We are trying, most importantly, to solve a conditions issue with this reconstruction project.”

The construction agreement with Larry Young Paving, Inc., is for $1,473,520.85, and is expected to take five months, weather permitting.

Citizens wishing to keep up with the progress of the project can sign up for construction notifications through a Gessner Engineering weblink:  https://www.gessnerengineering.com/notification/ .
